Kristin Schwendinger
Co-Head Dame
Charlottesville Chapter
As a new co-head dame and Charlottesville transplant, I come with experience in Northern Virginia and across the US park system. I’m looking forward to exploring more with the local chapter - especially to get out on trails in all the different seasons. My career is specialized in compliance and my volunteer time has previously been devoted to taking inner city kids on hikes and supporting local conservation groups. Without a doubt the proximity to Shenandoah drew to me move here, and I plan to take advantage of it.
Marisa Hughes
Co-Head Dame
Charlottesville Chapter
Hi -- I'm Marisa, your new Co-Head Trail Dame! I've lived in Virginia most of my life (with a few adventures overseas and in Indiana), and I moved from Northern VA to Central VA last year, with the nearby mountains and outdoor activities a huge draw. My background is in psychology and mental health, and I've spent a lot of time volunteering in animal rescue and community programs, but my biggest passion has always been being in nature — whether it's hiking, biking, kayaking, or just going for a walk. Most of my hiking experience has been in the Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I'm super excited to continue exploring all of the great trails around here and make some awesome new friends while soaking in the beautiful scenery!
Trail Dames welcomes women of all shapes, sizes, and experience and fitness levels, with an emphasis on friendship, fun, education, and empowerment. Join us!
