Kathy Greco's daughters: Carolyn Chrestman; Andrea Greco; Marlena and Sabrina Kauer

This heartfelt biography is written from the perspective of Kathy Greco's daughter, Andrea Greco.

Mom grew up in Pennsylvania with her mom, dad and younger brother. After graduating college with a degree in computer science, she got married and started a family. The Marine Corps moved us around for a bit, finally settling in Virginia. For many years mom worked for IBM as a project manager. She worked in Atlanta, DC, New York City, and Puerto Rico; she became a pro at getting through an airport!

As we grew up, Mom was very active in the Girl Scouts as our troop leader and Service Unit manager. Mom taught us campfire songs, to leave a place cleaner than we found it, and how to cook in the woods. Mom loved hiking and being out in the woods, and found great friends and encouragement with the Trail Dames. We were so proud of her. The Trail Dames were there for her in a tough time of her life.

Although Mom and Dad eventually divorced, they maintained a good relationship. Mom and Franc fell in love, and he and his daughters, Marlena and Sabrina, joined our family. Mom and Franc shared a love of gardening and travel; they visited Europe together several times. When Franc got sick, Mom cared for him with love, patience, and commitment.

She always had a knack for crafting, loved reading, had a green thumb, and she was a great cook. Our favorite mother-daughter activity was to cook together. When we came to visit for a weekend she would have new recipes try out and old favorites for us to make--baked pasta dishes, Jewish apple cake and tortellini chicken soup were some classics. Then when Carolyn had babies, Mom was so happy to become a grandmother, and the kids adored their Gran.

It's nice to look back over Mom's life and think of all the love and joy she experienced. We're so thankful that that she is remembered by her friends, and that they you share that friendship with us.
